Heron Partners with Siemens Healthineers and Global Collaborators to Advance AB-BNCT Precision Cancer Therapy Worldwide

Heron Neutron Medical Corp. (TWSE: 7799) has achieved a significant milestone in its collaboration with Siemens Healthineers, a global leader in medical technology, in the field of Accelerator-Based Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (AB-BNCT). The initial results of this collaboration were jointly presented at the prestigious PTCOG 2026 (Particle Therapy Co-Operative Group Annual Conference), demonstrating the strong technological integration capabilities and innovative achievements of both companies in advanced radiation therapy.

The collaboration combines Heron's proprietary Herizon Treatment Planning System (TPS) with Siemens Healthineers' advanced diagnostic imaging technologies and incorporates AI-powered image processing algorithms to improve the accuracy of patient model generation. Research findings indicate that the application of imaging artifact reduction techniques can significantly enhance dose calculation accuracy, leading to meaningful improvements in BNCT treatment quality and providing a stronger technological foundation for precision radiation therapy.

Heron's proprietary Herizon TPS features a high-speed dose calculation engine capable of reducing the complex BNCT dose simulation process from several hours to just a few minutes while maintaining high accuracy. Through this strategic collaboration with Siemens Healthineers, Heron has successfully overcome traditional imaging limitations, further strengthening system performance and image integration capabilities to deliver more precise dose assessments.

In addition to the technological advancements, Taiwanese clinical research teams also presented important findings during the conference. Dr. Yuan-Hung Wu, attending physician at the Department of Heavy Particle and Radiation Oncology of Taipei Veterans General Hospital, and Dr. Chih-Ying Liao, attending physician at the Department of Radiation Oncology of China Medical University Hospital, delivered presentations on the application of AB-BNCT for sarcoma and recurrent head and neck cancer, respectively. Their presentations shared preliminary clinical experiences accumulated through collaborations between leading Taiwanese medical centers and industry partners.

Dr. Wu highlighted that sarcomas are generally highly radioresistant, making conventional photon radiotherapy less effective. The challenge becomes even greater when tumors infiltrate or are located adjacent to critical organs, limiting the ability to deliver adequate radiation doses safely. As an innovative treatment modality with selective biological effects, BNCT has demonstrated encouraging changes in tumor activity among treated patients, with positive trends observed in objective treatment responses. Importantly, BNCT has shown unique potential in preserving critical organ function, an advantage that is difficult to achieve with conventional treatment approaches.

Dr. Liao reported that the Zhubei AB-BNCT Center has accumulated meaningful clinical experience in treating recurrent head and neck cancer, with outcomes that meet clinical expectations. Furthermore, the introduction of a deployable AB-BNCT hospital solution is expected to improve treatment workflow efficiency and operational safety, enabling broader patient access to this innovative therapy.

Beyond the scientific presentations, Heron also showcased Taiwan-developed AB-BNCT technologies at its exhibition booth, highlighting the nation's innovation capabilities and international competitiveness in advanced medical technology. Through extensive engagement with global experts, researchers, and industry stakeholders, the company continues to advance its European market strategy and capture opportunities in the growing market for advanced radiation therapy equipment and integrated treatment solutions.

Building upon previously announced collaboration initiatives, Cosylab and Heron held an in-person meeting during PTCOG 2026 and conducted a Letter of Intent (LOI) signing ceremony to further formalize their strategic partnership. This milestone signifies the transition from initial collaborative discussions to active implementation and establishes an important foundation for expanding AB-BNCT into European and North American markets. Moving forward, both companies will continue to deepen cooperation in technology integration, international market expansion, and clinical application development to accelerate the global adoption of AB-BNCT systems.

Heron stated that its strategic collaborations with Siemens Healthineers, Cosylab, and other international partners have successfully connected advanced imaging technologies, treatment planning systems, and clinical application development, gradually building a comprehensive AB-BNCT ecosystem. From core technology breakthroughs and advanced medical imaging integration to the accumulation of preliminary clinical evidence and expansion into international markets, these achievements demonstrate Taiwan’s growing strength and competitiveness in advanced radiation oncology.

As technology development continues and clinical validation progresses, AB-BNCT is expected to play an increasingly important role in the treatment of difficult-to-treat and recurrent cancers. By addressing unmet clinical needs and complementing existing treatment options, AB-BNCT has the potential to create new opportunities in global cancer care while further highlighting Taiwan's critical role and leadership in the advancement of BNCT technology and clinical applications.
