Heron Partners with NYCU to Establish BNCT & Advanced Imaging Research Center for Precision Medicine

Heron Neutron Medical Corp. (7799) announced on the 29th that, in order to advance the development of cutting-edge medical technologies and strengthen the integrated application of boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) and medical imaging research, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and Heron Neutron Medical Corp. held a signing ceremony on the same day for the “Bo-Ai Campus Boron Neutron Capture Therapy and Advanced Imaging Research Center Establishment Agreement.” This marks the official launch of collaboration between the two parties in frontier medical research, clinical applications, and innovative technology development.

 National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University has long been dedicated to biomedical technology, medical imaging, and interdisciplinary integrated research. In recent years, the university has actively promoted translational applications of advanced medical technologies. Through this collaboration with Heron Neutron Medical Corp., the university will combine its strengths in medical research, clinical application, and talent cultivation with Heron Neutron Medical Corp.’s expertise in advanced medical technology and practical system implementation to jointly establish the “Bo-Ai Campus Boron Neutron Capture Therapy and Advanced Imaging Research Center.”

 This partnership is not only an important milestone in the establishment of the research center but also demonstrates the commitment of academic institutions and industry partners to jointly advance innovative medical technologies. It is expected to inject new momentum into precision medicine and cancer therapy research in Taiwan.

 Heron Neutron Medical Corp. stated that boron neutron capture therapy is a precision radiation therapy technique that combines the selective accumulation of boron-containing drugs with neutron irradiation. In recent years, it has attracted significant attention in cancer research and clinical applications. Advanced medical imaging technologies can assist in disease diagnosis, treatment planning, therapeutic efficacy evaluation, and research data integration. Through interdisciplinary integration, BNCT is expected to become an important direction in the development of precision medicine.

The future research center will be based on the Bo-Ai Campus and will progressively integrate BNCT, medical imaging, clinical research, translational medicine, and cross-disciplinary R&D resources to build a forward-looking medical technology research platform.

 Heron Neutron Medical Corp. further noted that the development of BNCT involves the integration of multiple disciplines, including accelerators, neutron sources, boron-containing drugs, imaging localization, treatment planning, and clinical applications. The company has long been committed to relevant technological development and pharmaceutical applications. Going forward, it will collaborate with National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University to promote the establishment of the research center and technology integration, with the aim of jointly advancing Taiwan’s development in frontier medical technologies and precision therapy.

 In the future, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and Heron Neutron Medical Corp. will continue to advance the construction of the research center, technological integration, research collaboration, and clinical application development in accordance with the cooperation plan. With innovative medical technology and patient needs at the core, the two parties will work together to open a new chapter in frontier medical research and industry-academia collaboration.
